Why I Dumped WordPress (and Don’t Even Get Me Started on Wix)

Why I build all my sites with Next.js, React, Vercel and Supabase

Let me be blunt:
WordPress never made me dream.
Ironically, I built over a hundred WordPress themes since 2003, back when we coded with dusty gloves and sweaty FTPs.

As for Wix... I’ve pulled more clients out of it than I can count.
Usually shocked. Sometimes visually addicted.
Yes, that’s a thing.

Today, I build with Next.js + React, deploy on Vercel, and reach for Supabase when I need a solid backend.
It’s fast. It’s clean. It scales.
And above all --- it’s not a plugin soup duct-taped together.

Why this stack?

1. Because I build for the future, not for 2012.

Next.js and React are today’s standard for serious developers.
Not a trend --- the real thing powering the world’s top platforms.

You want a site that’s fast, SEO-friendly, flexible, beautiful, and ready for tomorrow’s tech (AI, fluid animations, interactive components, APIs...)?
Forget WordPress.

(And no, “Elementor Pro” does not count as tech advancement.)

2. Because I like clean code.

A WordPress site is often a plugin mess: 45 extensions, 8 conflicts, 3 paid add-ons, and all of them slow your site down.
I want control. I want a clean skeleton. A frontend that scrolls like silk.

Next + React = modern structure, native speed, no fluff.

3. Because I want full creative power.

With this stack, I can:

  • plug in a Supabase database when needed (auth, dynamic content, users, etc.),
  • write a clean .mdx blog where each article includes stylish React components,
  • deploy with one click to Vercel, CDN included, live previews, rollbacks ready.

And all of that... without a bloated dashboard or drag-and-drop tools with design handcuffs.

(Need a neon pink button with a springy animation? Go. No plugin from 2015 needed.)

4. Because I have standards.

I no longer accept “quick fixes” that lead to bad results.
I’m done deactivating hacked plugins.
I’m done waiting on theme updates.
I want to build, not fix.

What about Wix?

Wix looks cute in demos.
But it’s like riding training wheels... on a Formula 1 track.

Sure, you move --- but:

  • the SEO is weak,
  • the code is unreadable,
  • your options are limited,
  • and you never really grow.

(Every time you try to add a page, Wix asks if you’re 12 years old, have a glitter diploma, or love 2000s animated backgrounds.)

I don’t want a “starter site”.
I want a web app --- built to last, ready to scale.

Conclusion

I build sites that breathe, that fly, and that scale with you.
I’m done wasting time on outdated stacks, restricted tools, or patchy architectures.

Since early 2024, every site I build runs on Next.js + React.
Deployed on Vercel. Connected to Supabase when needed.
Always built with love --- and a dash of sass.

If you want a patched-up site, go WordPress.
If you want a site that soars --- talk to me.
